2009, where did it go?THURSDAY-14TH-JANUARY-2010 | WWW.NIGELKINGYACHTING.COM Sitting on the train heading to the first event of the year (the London Boat Show) and I can’t believe that it is 2010 already. Before we can look at the year ahead I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and would also like to say a massive thanks to everyone who supported me throughout 2009. I can’t explain how much it helps to know that people are cheering for me along the way. I would also like to say a big thanks to all my partners and sponsors, without them the campaign would never happen.
The boat show might be the main event of the year at the moment, a chance to see current sponsors, potential sponsors, and catch up with mates, but the sailing season itself has already started for me with the frostbite series at Lymington Town Sailing Club. This is my first dinghy sailing for 3 years in a borrowed RS600. The -1 degrees temperature and 20kts was definately a shock to the system last Sunday! I have also been hitting the bike and the roads in training to get my fitness up to max for the start of the racing season.
On Tuesday I will give a talk in London for an Essex based training company, Radius 360, and planning is full steam ahead with Team Aqua for the first event of the RC44 season which takes place in Dubai in February.
2010 Figaro season
The search for a title sponsor continues and, although I have come close in the last few weeks, no deal has currently been reached. It’s a real shame but with new conversations happening all the time I remain optimistic that I will eventually find a title sponsor for whom I can deliver some real returns
Thanks again for watching this space and I hope everybody is enjoying what ever they are doing as much as I am enjoying the challenge of my sailing campaigns
Good luck in 2010
